Slush is one of the largest entrepreneurial events in the world, and one that is amazingly run by mostly student volunteers. Every year, students take time off from their studies to put together a world class event that sees over 20,000 attendees.
In 2018, through Aalto’s IDBM program, we partnered with Slush to offer a customized learning experience for team leads and group leads. The idea was to take the university to where the students were, in a way that it doesn’t interfere with their work responsibilities but in fact, enhanced them

Slush+Minor+Students.jpg — So to match these needs we created a project based learning course where each participant focused on their area of responsibility, while meeting and getting instruction one evening a week. We also provided flexible mentoring to support when needed.
This allowed these team leads to learn important skills and methods that not only helped execute their projects in a more systematic way, it also allowed them to earn 15 ECTS in the process. Overall this project course was a great success and we’re looking forward to running the next iteration soon.
